Best of IFA 2019: Amazing smartphones, speakers, headphones, TVs and more

The IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin is one of the largest in the world. It is also different in that it opens its doors to the public, as well as press and trade visitors.

Many products are launched there each year and this year's event has played host to some amazing new TVs, gadgets, phones and gizmos.

We've been busy beavering around IFA 2019 to check out the very best products in order to whittle them down to just 12 we think stole the show.

Here then, in alphabetical order, are our 12 best products of IFA 2019.

Garmin Venu

Garmin's new smartwatch comes with an AMOLED display - a first for the company. It also sports all manner of health tracking sensors and monitors, while giving you access to music streaming services, including Spotify, straight from your wrist.

It will cost will $399.99 in the US, £329.99 in the UK and be available from Q4 2019.

JBL Pulse 4

The latest in JBL's range of speakers that use LEDs to enhance music playback experiences, the Pulse 4 produces a 360-degree lightshow and looks a bit like a lava lamp when in full swing.

It is also IPX7 waterproofed, so good for outdoors parties, even in the rain. A 12-hour battery ensures it should last the whole event too.

JVC Fire TV Edition 4K TV

JVC is the first manufacturer to bring TVs with built-in Amazon Fire TV smarts to the UK and we heartily approve. Especially as the sets will start at just £349 for a 4K TV model.

The TV even has Alexa built in, so you can use voice control for operation.

Lenovo Smart Display 7

After the success of the first Smart Display, Lenovo is back with a smaller, neater follow-up. The Google Assistant-enabled device now comes with a tasty 7-inch screen and blizzard white finish, which would look nice in any home.

There are two 1.5-inch 5W speakers inside, so it is great for music playback too.

Motorola Moto One Zoom

The Moto One Zoom is Motorola's first quad camera phone and, given its near £400 price point, that's a lot of spec for a very reasonable outlay.

Its 6.4-inch Full HD OLED screen and under-display fingerprint scanner are also highlights. While the purple Amazon-exclusive edition we saw at the show, also comes with Alexa built-in.

Nokia 7.2

The Nokia 7.2 has a HDR-enabled 6.3-inch Full HD+ display, but its the camera unit around the back that garners the most attention.

You get a 48-megapixel main camera, with 5-megapixel depth sensor and 8-megapixel wide-angle unit, all backed up with Zeiss lenses.

Philips Hue Button

The Philips Hue Button might look small and simple, but that's entirely its appeal. It is customisable, so you can set it to perform many functions to activate your Hue lighting around the home. And, as it comes with a magnetic rear, you can attach to the fridge or included mounting plate.

It looks to be an ideal, inconspicuous addition to any smart home.

Philips OLED+ 984

The Philips OLED+ 984 is a stunning-looking 65-inch premium TV with 4K resolution and multiple forms of HDR support: HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

As well as the proprietary Ambilight, the 984 comes with a speaker system designed in collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins. You get left, centre and right speakers in the soundbar set-up below the set, with bass drivers too.

Samsung 55Q950R QLED 8K TV

Samsung has released a 55-inch model as part of its QLED 8K TV range. Available for around £3,000 in the UK, it badged as one of the company's HDR 3000 sets, meaning it is capable of extreme brightness as well as very deep, involving black levels.

Upscaling technologies ensure that no matter the video content, it will look great on the 7680 x 4320 pixels.

Sennheiser Momentum Wireless

Sennheiser's third-generation Momentum headphones come wireless and packed with top-end tech, including adaptive noise-cancelling and auto-pausing when removed.

They also include Tile functionality, so you can track and find your Momentums if you mislay them. All of that and 17 hours worth of music playback on a single battery charge. Nice.

Sonos Move

At last! Sonos has finally introduced a portable Bluetooth speaker as part of its connected line-up. That means you will be able to take a Sonos speaker out into the garden to carry on the multiroom party.

The Sonos Move is also IP56 water and dust resistance, so it can handle different kinds of weather conditions.

Sony Xperia 5

The Sony Xperia 5 could well have been named Xperia 1 Compact as it features many of the features that make the Xperia 1 such a flagship device - including the 21:9 aspect screen.

At 6.1-inches, it is indeed more compact than its stablemate, so is easier to hold in the hand for those who prefer a smaller form factor.
