Amazon Echo Studio promises higher quality sound for $199

Amazon has announced a number of new Echo devices at its September event, including the Echo Studio.

The Echo Studio has been revealed alongside an all-new Echo, an Echo Dot with a clock and an Echo Show, though the event is currently ongoing so we're expecting more Alexa-powered devices to appear.

The Amazon Echo Studio is claimed to be the "first smart speaker that brings 3D audio from Dolby Atmos into your living room" and inside, it features left, right and top mid-range speakers for directional sound, coupled with a directional tweeter, a built-in 5.25-inch bass driver and a bass port.

The new speaker - which is all about sound quality - also has Dolby Atmos on board and Amazon claims the sound is "truly immersive".

The Echo Studio can also connect to 4K Fire TV devices to allow users playing Atmos-endcoded content on their Fire TV the ability to fill the room with sound easily, while two Echo Studio speakers can be paired together for an even better performance.

Of course, the Echo Studio also has Amazon Alexa voice control on board, just like other Echo devices. Users can ask Alexa to perform various tasks, find out what the weather is like, ask what your calendar is like for the day, control compatible smart home devices, and even add to a shopping list, not to mention order directly from Amazon, among thousands of other Skills.

The Amazon Echo Studio will be available to pre-order from 25 September in the US and it will cost $199.99. We are still waiting on UK pricing and availability.
